Do any of you with #crohnsdisease or #ulcerativecolitis drink alcohol? This was one of the 4 times I would say I’ve ever drank alcohol (about 4 years ago) and every time I try to drink, I pay for it. Alcohol is not my friend, so I’m a #crohnie that doesn’t touch it. How about you? #ostomy #jpouch #tcjf
I think I packed plenty of liquids today :) (love these glass bottles, just keep reusing them). For me, when dehydrated, i am completely miserable. Being a crohnie, i tend to dehydrate more so trying to take an active roll in staying hydrated. Hope u all have a good day full of some good gratitude. Oh man yesterday I ate so much crap. Just gonna be honest here, foods that I haven’t really touched in a while were consumed a lot. I might say I’m a masochist, have short term memory loss that I have Crohns or just a high risk gambler. Maybe I’m all three, who knows but all I do know is today is a soup and smoothy kinda day, bc this girl is paying for it (luckily no real pain). Oh well, I forgive, learn and move on bc I can’t change the past, only have control on now. I wanted to share why being a crohnie is a part time job, and sometimes a full time one. It takes a lot of effort to stay “healthy” (whatever that means to u), for me it’s not having any stomach pains, cramps, urgency, blood, fatigue and so on (Crohns symptoms) and to get to that point of “health” a lot of things need to happen daily, such as taking my Epson salt baths, meditate, yoga, eat clean ( don’t touch sugar/fried food/ dairy/ processed foods), take all my supplements, make a juice, stress management, make my smoothie, sleep well and so on. (Sorry for the run on sentence there :) ) Reality is, that takes a lot of effort. And some days I full on forget to do half of it because i am barely making it through the day with work and life. Then U have a guilt or disappointment that may come with feeling like u “failed” (use that term loosely) and it’s just tiring sometimes. Or u are so on top of it and feeling great that u allow urself to “cheat” and eat that piece of cake, but then u think I’m feeling good so the next day I may not do x y z and have another dessert, before u know it u start to feel ill again bc u need to keep up with ur maintenance to stay healthy and u feel like u have to start from scratch again, which feels impossible at times. Or worst one, u are doing it all right and some how u still get sick?! I think this will all make sense to my IBDers out there. I want u to know that it is OK if u slipped or if u got off track, it’s called being human , know that today is a new day and u get a chance to start again! Don’t give up!
